A journalist from a city visits an Armenian village to prepare a journalistic feature and asks to stay several days at a family. The journalist finds out that the daughter of the family, a school-girl soon will be a bride. The girl doesn’t want to get married and dreams of continuing her studies to become a journalist.
During the play, the journalist and the mother have intensive conversations, the journalist is asking uncomfortable questions to the mother (what she dreamt to become when she was a young girl, does she want her daughter to repeat her fate by getting married at early age, etc.). The head of the family, the father insists that her daughter must marry a very good man whom his daughter never saw before expect one day before the engagement day.
Doubts overwhelm the mother during the conversations and debates with the journalist from the city. As a result of the conversations and at the end of the play, the audience understands that the journalist from the city doesn’t exist, it was the mother herself, if she wouldn’t have married at an early age, she would have received education and become a journalist.
